Sciatica treatment
A pain in the back, neck or buttock that radiates to the leg.
Symptom
When discs herniate in the lower back, they put pressure on the sciatic nerve which runs through the legs. The resultant pain spreads from the lower back to the legs, including the toes. Patients who suffer from sciatica often find it difficult to walk, sit or stand for long periods of time.
The foremost symptom of sciatica is radiating pain from the lower back to the buttocks or legs. The symptoms associated with that are:
- The pain feels like an electric shock
- The intensity of the pain varies from being mild to excruciating
- Coughing and sneezing increases the pain
- Sitting for a long time makes the pain worse
- Affected leg may get numbness or tingling like sensation
Sciatica Causes
Disc bulge, disc herniation, and slipped disc cases sometimes progress to sciatica. Some other causes are:
- Lumbar spinal stenosis: With aging, the spinal canal narrows and puts pressure on the spinal cord.
- Piriformis syndrome: The piriformis muscle extends from the lower back to the femur and the sciatic nerve runs beneath it. Sciatica occurs when the nerve runs through the muscle instead.
- Spondylolisthesis: This is when one vertebra slips onto the one below it.
- Pregnancy: The baby puts pressure on the sciatic nerve.
Sciatica Treatment
Sciatica is often a symptom of severe back pain. The most effective treatment plan can be designed when the diagnosis is accurate.
For pain relief
- Pain reduction exercises: Stretching exercises help relax the sciatic nerve and provide temporary pain reduction
- Cell Repair modalities: The cell repair technology uses frequency specific microcurrent to stimulate the affected area to trigger healing and pain management. Our doctors use analysis report to identify the root cause and isolate the weak spinal muscles to improve the load bearing capacity of the spinal muscles.
- Spinal muscles re education and training requires for the 4 weeks
For long term relief and treating underlying cause
- Spine Rehabilitation & Isolation treatment: Our doctors identify the root cause and isolate the weak spinal muscles through device-based therapy.
- Surgery: Although surgery is the most commonly advised for sciatica, it is completely avoidable with conservative treatment. Surgery should only be an option if spine rehabilitation and other conservative methods have failed
